VITAMINS ANGELS

Vitamin Angels is a global organization working towards alleviation of micro nutrient deficiency in high risk populations, specifically pregnant women, new mothers, and children under five. It provides access to lifesaving and life changing vitamins and minerals.

In India, Vitamin A deficiency is the main cause of blindness in children under five. Almost 62% of children suffer from childhood blindness according to a government report. In an endeavor to prevent childhood blindness, Lions Clubs India and Vitamin Angels have partnered to provide children between 6 to 59 months with Vitamin A. Initiated in 2011, the collaboration also works towards blindness prevention, with Vitamin Angels offering training, guidance and medical supplements for children under five years of age.

Lions have been working with Vitamin A to provide assistance to children and infants. A progress update on the project is given below.
