Lions Clubs International President met with the president of Sri Lanka, Maithripala Sirisena on 4th of December, 2017. The largest humanitarian group in the world is looking to strengthen its foothold in South Asia. After launching a full fledged war against Diabetes in India, Sri Lanka seems to be the strategically correct option.
Every 1 in 1,470 Sri Lankans is a Lion. In 3 days there, the IP also met the Lion leaders of Sri Lanka and attended a seminar to discuss the country's top service projects. Lions serve almost 850 thousand people in the country - roughly 4% of the population. These are very high and encouraging figures. With this strength and the exact same goal as the SL govt. in mind, Lions intend to fight humanitarian issues in the country, hand in hand with the local government.
