Lions Special Olympics

“Keep your face to the Sunshine and you will not see the Shadows.” Helen Keller

19 years ago, with the intent of spreading smiles in the community, Lions District 323 A1 started the ‘Special Olympics’- Inter School Sports Competition. This Olympics includes individual who are speech and hearing impaired and spastics.

With a fresh view, this year’s ‘Special Olympics’ has been organized on Friday 18th December, 2015 at Priya Darshini Park, Napean Sea Road, Mumbai- 400006. More than 900 differently-abled students from about 30 different schools will be attending the event at the given venue. The aim of this event is to empower these students and in return receive their appreciation through their precious smiles.

During the duration of this event, the students will be treated to a sumptuously healthy breakfast and lunch. These students will be supported by their teachers, parents, colleagues and other well wishers too. At the end of the event, all the respective winners and participants will be felicitated with prizes and special gifts. The event will leave the crowd awestruck when they will actually see the efforts and dedication put in by the students. One of the most spell bounding views will be watching the young blind participants running in a straight line with help of drum beats at the other end.

The simplicity and enthusiasm on the faces of these children encourages people to support such initiatives in the future. We urge you to come and motivate the students because the joy and peace of seeing and helping the students participate in such events is simply stunning. Your presence and support will encourage the students to go beyond their individual limits and achieve success not only at the ‘Special Olympics’ but in their lives too.
