With the aim to advocate healthy hearts, Lions Clubs India has successfully collaborated with “Little Hearts Marathon”, a prestigious fundraising event to promote prevention of cardiac diseases among children. True to their philosophy, “Where there is a need, there is a Lion”, Lions Clubs also sponsored thousands of T-shirts to support the event organized in 2015.
Lions Clubs has always been in the forefront in serving the community with their humanitarian projects, and supporting the marathon is one such ideal example.
The annual fund raising marathon organized by Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital for Children to be held on 7th February, 2016 aims to engage the community in a fun filled healthy event. The marathon aims to raise funds to reduce operational expenses, waiting time for cardiac surgeries by building up build a cardiac center in Wadia Hospital. Due to participation by various celebrities, politicians, social workers and industry leaders, the event has gained much coverage in the media, thus furthering the cause. In the past the event has proved to be a major success owing to extraordinary participation from families, educational institutes and volunteers. Focusing on underprivileged children who required immediate cardiac treatments, 22 children were operated post marathon in 2015.
With the vision to minimize cardiac diseases in children, Lions Clubs have come together to showcase their support towards the event, this year scheduled on Sunday, 7th February 2016, by participating in it. A whole-hearted involvement of the society and other organizations is required to make this event successful. To restore smiles on the faces of underprivileged, let us come together for a noble cause and serve the community to the best of our abilities.
