At Lions Clubs International, we have always believed that we cannot accomplish all that we need to do without working together with like- minded organizations. The task ahead is humungous. And there are many hearts and hands required to build a better world. Keeping this in mind, MD 317 organized a Corporate Social Responsibility Meet, on 28th January at the Taj West End, Bangalore. The objective was to make corporates, NGOs and influencers aware of Lions service activities and encourage them to collaborate with Lions Clubs in these activities.

LCIF Chairperson Joe Preston brought the international perspective to the Meet while Past International Director and Member, LCI CSR Committee, India V.V.Krishna Reddy and CSR Coordinator, G.Srinivas (District 317E) provided the local insights.

Mr. Shankar Rao, CEO-IT, Ms. Shilpa Deodhar, CSR-Head and Mr. Gurunandan Rao, CSR-Executive from Bosch confirmed that their CSR Activities are focused on ‘Health, Education and Environment’. They also expressed their willingness to partner with Lions in these areas.

Nokia – represented by Mr. Rajesh Krishna, CFO and Mr. Albert, Logistics Head – has already donated more than 2000 used Computers to District 317E. These were refurbished and used to set up Computer Training Centers in rural areas. They were also keen on partnering with Lions for the Lions Quest Program.

Ms. Vatsala Sreepad, Senior Director, IBM, confirmed that ‘Education’ was her Company’s CSR Activity and would consider partnering with Lions in this area.

Mr. Joshua Livingstone, Senior Project Officer, HCL attended the Meet on behalf of HCL Foundation. With their CSR focus being ‘Education and Vocational Training,’ they have already partnered and signed MoU with Lions for the Quest Program with a commitment of funding Rs.1 crore over the next three years. They have also set up a Vocational Training Programme in partnership with Lions Club of Bangalore Lady Bird and in association with Aide et Action at Lions Club of Bangalore Lady Bird Home for Children and Thippireddy Narayanamma Vocational Training Center in Bangalore.

‘Training Institutes for Underprivileged,’ is the CSR focus of Brocade Communications Systems Pvt. Ltd. In fact the company, represented by Mr. Vinod Chandran, Vice President & General Manager at the Meet, has already partnered with Lions Club of Bangalore Whitefield to set up an e- learning centre with an investment of Rs.7,00,000/-

Mr Anand from Nettur Technical Training Foundation has offered to partner with lions to provide Technical Education for the underprivileged youth who could not pursue higher education and employ them in companies in India. The role of lions is only to identify youth and send them for training to NTTF after counseling.

Ltd.; Aide et Action, Unnati, SGBS Trust; Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru; Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce & Industry and Price Water House Cooper.
