In keeping with the Lions Clubs International moto of fighting blindness, the Lions Club of Tanahu has conducted several activities towards this cause, to support the reduction of blindness at a local level in Tahahu, enhancing the ‘Lions Vision for All’
The club has been creating awareness about blindness, its causes and types through its various awareness initiatives and camps. Additionally, the monthly screening at the Eye Care Centre, Damauli has greatly impacted the community. Lions have been able to reach out to over 9,500 people through its screening programs, and have helped 217 people suffering from cataract in this year alone. Additionally, Lions have also undertaken a School Vision Screening Program to help in early detection and treatment of eyes disease amongst children.
The School Vision Screening Program works towards identifying student with vision problems, notifying family, carrying out advanced tests, establishing follow-up procedures to assist students and recommending appropriate environment and providing treatment for such students.
With over 500 government schools in Tanahu, Lions are working towards reaching out to all 500 schools and have been welcomed by its faculty and pupils.
