Lions from all around the world gather for ISAAME Forum 2015

The 43rd ISAAME Forum was declared open on 15th December, 2015 at Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. Lions Clubs International aims to serve 100 million people all over the world by 2018 to mark its 100 glorious years of service to people. ISAAME 2015 established that Lions have moved from working towards the betterment of their country, to working for the betterment of the entire region.

On the very first day, ISAAME 2015 witnessed delegates from different countries sharing their experiences with each other. The forum started with the inauguration of Lions Blood Bank Project by the hands of International President Dr.Jitsuhiro Yamada. This is a joint venture between Lions Club of Karnavati and Lions Club Of Enfield, London (U.K). Lion Subhash Dattani addressed the crowd. The health minister of Gujarat, Mr.Nitin Bhai Patel honored the event with his presence as the Chief Guest. Around 40 bottles of blood were donated as a part of the inauguration program.

At Asia’s largest civil hospital, the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital which is a boon for the middle-class and the poorer section of the society faces a problem of accommodation for patient’s relatives. To help this cause, Lions Club of Digvijaynagar and Digvijay Lions Foundation provided shelter for patients and their relatives. On its golden anniversary, Lions Clubs Internationals’ President Dr.Jitsuhiro Yamada inaugurated the SANITORIUM- III wing of Manav Seva Mandir as part of the Swajangruh Project. It will provide accommodation to patient’s kin at Rs. 20 for two people per night. ‘Annapurna’, another project under Swajangruh, will provide lunch/dinner at Rs. 20 with utmost attention on hygiene and cleanliness.

As part of the Eye Health Development Program, Dr.Jitsuhiro Yamada inaugurated the ‘Physiotherapy College for the Blind’. The Past International President Rohit Mehta greeted everyone with his speech and shed light on the project. The college aims to make the students self-sufficient with a diploma course in physiotherapy by imparting complete practical and academic knowledge.

At the press conference, future programs and endeavors were put forth and discussed. The conference saw the participation of many delegates from different countries. The question answer round at the conference also proved to be a great success as many Lions and Leos had their doubts cleared and suggestions put forth. The successful first day of ISAAME 2015 ended with the soothing voice of Mohit Lalwani and Aisha Sayyed of the Indian Idol fame.

Many important delegates made their presence felt on the first day of ISAAME 2015 which includedInternational President Dr. Jitsuhiro Yamada, 1st International Vice President Bob Corlew, 2nd International Vice President Naresh Agarwal, LCIF Chairperson Joe Preston and Past International President Mahendra Amarsurya. Everyone shared thoughtful messages on their experience and expectations with Lions Clubs International and ISAAME Forum 2015.
