Lions Club of Siddapur

Lions are known world over for taking up challenging tasks and executing them efficiently. While doing so, they make sure that they bring about a positive difference in the lives of the people they work with, thus differentiating them from other organizations. One such commendable task was taken up by the Lions Clubs of Siddapur, Uttara Kannada district in the state of Karnataka. Realizing their duty to protect to the environment, they initiated a Green Revolution by planting more than 50,000 saplings over a short span of 2 months.

What sets this activity apart is the strategic approach by which a study was conducted to understand the local requirement after which the tree planting initiative was executed in order to maximize its benefits - plants that reap higher value such as biofuel, medicinal and aromatic plants were planted in order to preserve the forest.
