99th Lions Clubs International Convention at Fukuoka, Japan

We welcome you all to 99th Lions Clubs International Convention to be held at Fukuoka, Japan from June 24th-28th, 2016.

Each year, more than 20,000 Lions from across the globe gather together to celebrate at our international convention and you all can join Lions Clubs and be a part of our mass movement towards a changed society.

Given below is important information to help you prepare for your trip to Fukuoka, Japan. Please review the contents carefully.

1. Convention Mobile App:

Smartphone users – don’t forget to download the free convention mobile app to get the latest convention news, create your own custom schedule, and network with your fellow Lions. The app will be ready for release soon – check LCICon for updates.

2. Parade Questions: Parade Office – Fukuoka Marine Messe (FMM) – Second Level – Conference Room 1:

Our spectacular Parade of Nations is on Saturday, June 25,2016. An estimated 35,000 Lions from over 120 countries with many native dresses will march. All Lions units must register by Friday, June 24 to participate in the parade. Contest winners can collect their prizes at the finance Office located in Headquarters Booth at the Marine Messe.

3. Registration Booth – Fukuoka International Congress Centre (FICC):

Online registration is closed. You can register at the Onsite Registration Booth located on the First Floor at the Fukuoka international Congress Centre beginning Friday June 24 at 10:00 AM.

Refer attendees to the Registration Booth for name badge reprints, one day registration, to purchase event tickets and for any questions regarding their official LCI hotel or registration materials. Event Tickets for the following can be purchased here:

  2. » Past International Presidents/Past International Directors/District Governors/Past District Governors Combined Banquet: Monday, June 27 (Fukuoka Hilton Sea Hawk Hotel)
  3. » Attendees requesting a Braille or large print convention program can obtain it here.
  4. » Attendees who have pre – registered can turn in their receipt here to pick up their convention materials from June 23 – June 25.

4. LCI Shuttle Desk – Fukuoka Marine Messe (FMM) & Fukuoka International Congress Center (FICC):

JTB, LCI Shuttle Company, will have representatives on site to assist with the convention shuttles. For any Lions who require handicapped accessible transportation during shuttle hours, please refer them to Shuttle Desk.

5. Certification: Fukuoka Marine Messe (FMM):

Delegates must be registered for the international convention, pay the full registration fee and wear their convention badge before the certification process can be completed.

6. Fukuoka Yahuoku! Dome: International Show and Plenary Sessions International Show:

Saturday, June 25 at 19:00

The International Show, sponsored by the Fukuoka Host Committee will be held at the Yahuoku! Dome on Saturday, June 25, 2016. The show will feature Japanese singer – songwriter Shinji Tanimura accompanied by Kyushu Symphony Orchestra. There will be exciting taiko drum show featuring the group Drum Tao. Transportation will be provided from the official hotels to the Yahuoku! Dome. Admission is by convention badge.

7. Convention Plenary Sessions:

  1. » Opening Plenary Session:
    Sunday, June 26: 10:00 – 13: 00
    President’s address, Flag Ceremony, and Keynote Speaker Kailash Satyarthai, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, 2014
  2. » Second Plenary Session:
    Monday, June 27: 10:00 – 12:30
    Featuring the LCIF session and candidate demonstrations.
  3. » Final Plenary Session:
    Tuesday, June 28: 10:00 – 13:30
    Dr. Tomoaki Alsurni, Doctors Without Borders/ Médecins Sans Frontières will receive the Humanitarian Award, and election results will be announced. Grand Prize winners will be announced.

    For the hearing impaired, the plenary sessions will be facilitated by a signer in a designated section in the front of the arena.

8. Plenary Session Translation:

The plenary sessions will be interpreted in the following languages: Chinese, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish.

9. Convention Shuttle Bus Service:

Shuttle buses will operate from Friday, June 24 through Tuesday, June 28 between all official LCI hotels and the FICC/FMM.
