Established in 1992 with strong leadership the Lions Club of Lakeside has grown from strength to strength and has a membership of 68 active Lions today. The club has been busy over the past 23 years making the community better through its several initiatives.
Some of the signature programs include:
"Medical and eye donation camps", where four different camps were conducted over ashort span of 6 months, from Eye check-ups to dental check-ups and two general medical camps, were conducted in collaboration with BhandupMedical Centre and Our Lady of Fatima Church, Majiwada. The Activity was supported by doctors from Fortis Hospital and impacted over 450 people. Additionally, a mega eye donation pledge was organized where over 1,000 people pledged to donate their eyes. The pledges were handed over to Col. Sir Jamshedji Duggan Government Eye Bank, at J. J. Hospital, Mumbai.
"Ek Mutthi Anaaj", that has provided food for thousands of underprivileged families through the collection and distribution of food grains.
"We Care", a program for Senior Citizens and Girl Children of MuktaJeevan Ashram, Shahpurwherethe children of the orphanage entertained the senior citizens and other colleagues through singing and dance that got all Lions, LEO's, staff members and children involved. The Club also donated bed sheets, toiletries, slippers, towels etc. for the senior citizens and clothes for the orphan children.
Another proud project for the club is the transformation of the neglected garden into a beautiful recreational place for all locals to enjoy. The garden has been highly appreciated by the authorities and local community members as well.The garden sports lush green trees and a painted fence and is decorated with colorful festoons handmade by Lakeside members.
